FOOD.

I'm thinking Wednesdays will be recipe day. At least today will. I make no promises on how well I will follow through with the idea.

I'm inspired by the new green bean (or haricot verts if you want to sound like a foodie) recipe I made last night. It's pretty spectacular. I think it's the cherry tomatoes.

This is something I intend to try at the next possible opportunity. Frozen blackberry-lemon chiffon pie. Looks amazing.

Recipes can be found here and here courtesy of the lovely people at Cooking Light.

I was not very decisive and David's response was "I think that will look great" to any color set before him.

In the end, choices were made.

I'm determined to do this in our dining room.
I tracked down profile shots of Dave and I as kids to use...

...and will hopefully not completely screw it up. I'm not very arty.

The Birth of my Fake Brazielian Heritage

Hello.

I'm Emily.

As the title of this blog might suggest, I am now Brazielian...by marriage. My semi-new (we've actually been married for nearly a year) husband's last name is Braziel, which has allowed me to snatch up a much more interesting sounding heritage. Sort of.

He's not really Brazilian of course - of French descent actually. (Hence the interesting spelling of the name - no I'm not that bad a speller.) But still it sounds cool and seeing as I am pale and freckly, it's as close as I am going to get to exotic. Ever.

I do feel confident there were other factors in my decision to marry this man besides the name upgrade...

So, here we are. The newlyweds with the cool last name.

It occurred to me to start a blog when I realized that I now had not one, but two families to keep in touch with and reguarly update about our life. Apparently, this job goes to the girl by default. I'm on Facebook and Twitter and all of that, but most of our relatives and many friends are not.

So, I thought this would be a great way to plug everyone in to what's going on in our food-obsessed, malarkey-loving, fantasy/sci-fi-supporting existence.

Welcome to all.

Enjoy.
